Finding Books: Request Item for Pickup

Why request a hold?

  • It's easy! Place a request on your book/journal/DVD/etc. when you have time, then pick it up at your preferred library without needing to spend time looking for it or walking across campus to get to the library it's housed in.
  • Don't just wait for someone to return the item you're waiting for! If someone has something you need, place a hold on it to send that person a recall notice. They'll have one week from then to return the item, and you'll get an email when it's ready for you to pick up.
  • We can mail it to you! If you register with Distance and Distributed Library Services, place a hold on the item you want, then choose "Distance Learners" as your pick up location, we'll mail it to you! This is a free service to all USask students, staff, and faculty within Canada.

How do I request an item?

At the top of the page in most book records in the Catalogue (excluding ebooks and books marked as "In Library Use"), there is a blue button that says Request Item for Pickup. Click on it.

On the next page, enter your NSID and password. Then choose the Pickup Location of your choice by using the drop-down menu. Choose whichever library is most convenient for you to pick up on campus, or choose Distance Learner to have the books sent through the mail (be sure to register!). Click on the green GO button. This will bring you to a new page.

Click on REQUEST SELECTED ITEM to confirm your choice, and then you're done!
