Research data management (RDM) is the process that guides the collection, documentation, storage, sharing, and preservation of research data throughout the lifecycle of a project.

RDM helps researchers:

• organize, store, access, reuse, and build upon digital research data
• securely preserve and use their research data throughout their research projects
• reuse their data over the course of their careers
• share their data when appropriate
• achieve scientific rigor and enable collaboration in their fields
