Accessing Library Materials

Physical Materials

Although all University Library locations remain closed, Contactless Pickup and Scan and Send services are now available for items in the library's collection that are listed as "In Library". As of September 1, 2020, recalls are available for items that are currently checked out by other library users. Items listed as "In Library Use Only" cannot be borrowed, but small portions of them can be scanned for you.

University Archives and Special Collections offers select digital access, but remains closed.

Ask Us if you need assistance or if you have questions about Contactless Pickup.

Distance & Distributed Library Services (DDLS)

USask students, instructors, faculty or employees located in Canada can now register to have print library materials delivered to their residence, free of charge. To register for the service you will need to include your current shipping address on the registration form. More at the DDLS page. You can also Ask Us if you need assistance or if you have questions about DDLS.

Electronic Materials

Search our online collections at library.usask.ca to see if your item is available electronically. Not sure which search tool to use? We have a guide for that! We also have some tools to help you connect from home.

If your item is not available in print or electronically, submit an interlibrary loan request. Ask Us if you need assistance searching our collections or if you have questions about interlibrary loans.

Renewing Borrowed Items

All items that were checked out before September 1, 2020 (including those that were checked out before the library buildings closed, as well as items newly checked-out through Contactless Pickup) have a due date of September 30, 2020. All items checked out after September 1, 2020, will follow regular loan periods as stated in our Borrowing Policies.

Starting on September 1, 2020, renewal of items you have borrowed is available.

Check your library catalogue account or PAWS in the the Library - My Account channel to see the status of items you have borrowed and to renew them. Library items can be renewed twice.

Please note: If your item has been recalled ("Requested for Pickup") by another user, you will not be able to renew that item, and you will need to return it to the library by the original due date or 30 days from the recall date, whichever is soonest.

Recalled Items

Items that you have signed out may be requested by another user through the Contactless Pickup service's "Request Item for Pickup" button. If this happens, a recall notice will be sent to your USask email address. If your original due date is more than 30 days away, a new due date will be assigned to the items included in the email. If your original due date is less than 30 days away, you must return them by their original due date. Renewals are unavailable for items that have been recalled.

If you keep any recalled item past its due date, late fines will accrue at the rate of $2/day per item.

Returning Borrowed Items
