Welcome to the University of Saskatchewan's Online Learning Readiness Tutorial (previously the Remote Learning Readiness Tutorial)!

Whether you are a seasoned online learner or an absolute beginner, this tutorial will help you better understand the skills associated with learning online/remotely/at a distance. It will help you determine how ready you are to learn at a distance so that you can make the most of your online classes.

Our Learning Charter outlines several student commitments and responsibilities: to learn actively, engage respectfully, and act ethically. These commitments require that you develop your ability to

  • learn independently, experientially, and collaboratively with others,
  • engage actively in the learning process through self-evaluation and reflection, and
  • take personal responsibility for your learning.

Being an effective and committed online learner can help you develop all of these skills. Therefore, the goal of this tutorial is to help you become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses as an independent learner and to help you develop your ability to be more self-reflective and self-directed in your learning.

At the end of the tutorial, the Online Learning Readiness Questionnaire will help you determine how prepared you are to learn online.

The Glossary of Terms explains some of the terminology associated with online/remote learning.

If you require a proof-of-completion certificate, you will need to complete the quiz at the very end.

Please note: This is not a tutorial about the equipment or software required to learn online. For help setting up your online learning workspace, please visit this Technology Tips page.

Time: The tutorial should take less than an hour to complete.
