Contactless Pickup at the Library

Contactless Pickup at the Library is now available for everyone with a valid University Library account. Contactless Pickup can be arranged for borrowing physical items in our collection. Items from any University Library location can be requested for scanning or for pick up. University Archives and Special Collections offers select digital access, but remains closed.

USask students, instructors, faculty or employees located in Canada who are unable to come to campus to borrow books through Contactless Pickup can now register to have print library materials delivered to their residence, free of charge. You must first register for Distance & Distributed Library Services (DDLS) in order to receive a mailed item.

For requesting scans of portions of items in our collection, such as a book chapter, a print article, or selected pages from a book, refer to our Scan and Send service

The email will also include instructions to follow upon arriving at the Murray Library doors facing the Arts Tower.

Physical items (such as books) can be picked up from the Murray Library 1-4 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). To maintain physical distancing, follow the markings on the ground outside the doors facing the Arts Tower at two-metre (six foot) intervals. Photo identification is required to receive your items. We will keep your items available for you to pick up for 8 calendar days. If you do not pick up your items within 8 days, they will be returned to the shelves.

All items checked out after September 1, 2020, will follow regular loan periods as stated in our Borrowing Policies.

To return your items:

Please drop all items off in the book drop at the Murray Library loading dock. Please note that we quarantine returned items for 3-5 business days before checking them in. Items will still appear on your account until they have been checked in.

It is your responsibility to return library items by the assigned due date. If you are unable to drop off items directly at the library, please send them through the mail. It may take 3-5 business days for them to be checked in. Our mailing address is:

Contactless Pickup Directions

Once you received the confirmation email that the items you requested are ready to be picked up at the Murray Library, what do you do?

Go to the Murray Library. Here is the Murray Building as seen from Campus Drive. Head left to the main entrance.

Approach the entrance facing the Arts Tower. Circled are the main entrance doors where you can pick up your books.

Or, if you're walking from elsewhere on campus, come up to Murray via the rainbow road between the Gordon Oakes Red Bear and Arts buildings.

As you approach the library, you will see green shields on the pavement. These are physical distancing markers. Please wait your turn if there is a lineup.

When you reach the left-hand door, show your photo ID to our staff members through the window.

Once staff members have confirmed your ID, move to the doors on the right without touching anything.

Our staff members will automatically open the doors from the inside.

There's no need to go in the building! Retrieve your books from the table just inside the doors.

That's it! You can now head home. Thanks for using our contactless pickup service!
