Self-Service Contactless Pickup at the Library

Self-Service Contactless Pickup at the Library is now available for everyone with a valid University Library account. Self-Service Contactless Pickup can be arranged for borrowing physical items in our collection. Items from any University Library location can be requested for scanning or for pick up. Use the links below to go directly to specific information, or scroll through the page.

University Archives and Special Collections offers select digital access, but remains closed.

USask students, instructors, faculty or employees located in Canada who are unable to come to campus to borrow books through Contactless Pickup can now register to have print library materials delivered to their residence, free of charge. You must first register for Distance & Distributed Library Services (DDLS) in order to receive a mailed item.

For requesting scans of portions of items in our collection, such as a book chapter, a print article, or selected pages from a book, refer to our Scan and Send service

For requesting items that are not part of the University Library's collection, refer to Interlibrary Loans.

Requesting Item(s) for Self-Service Contactless Pickup or DDLS:

To request an item for pickup or DDLS:

  1. Search for the item using the Library Catalogue
  2. When you have found what you need, click on the blueRequest Item for Pickup button
  3. On the sign-in page, log in with your NSID and password. For Contactless Pickup, choose "Murray Service Desk" in the Pickup Location menu. To have the item mailed to you, choose "Distance Learners". (You must first register for Distance & Distributed Library Services in order to receive a mailed item.) 
  4. Select “Go”
  5. Choose the copy of the book or volume of the journal that you need
  6. Select "Request Selected Item"
  7. Please allow up to five business days for your request to be filled
  8. We ask that you limit your requests to five per day to avoid delays

Picking Up Your Item(s)

To pick up your items:

It may take up to five business days for your request to be filled. Once your request has been filled, you will receive an email from the library notifying you your items are ready. The email includes instructions on picking up and returning your items.

Physical items (such as books) can be picked up from the Murray Library 1- 4 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays):

  • Enter the Murray Building using the doors facing the Arts building (see the GoogleMaps pin below).
  • Walk to the far set of doors entering the Murray Library that indicate "Self-Service Contactless Pickup."
  • Items will be held on book carts in alphabetical order by last name, the receipt wrapped around your items will include the first four letters of your last name and the first three letters of your first name. Remove the items marked with your last and first name from the book truck.
    •  We will keep your items available for you to pick up for 8 calendar days. If you do not pick up your items within 8 days, they will be returned to the shelves. 
  • The items have already been checked out to you so you may leave the library with them. All items will follow regular loan periods as stated in our Borrowing Policies. 
  • Masks are mandatory as per University Policy.
  • Please maintain appropriate social distancing when picking up items. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available.

Returning Your Item(s)

To return your items: 

It is your responsibility to return library items by the assigned due date. There are three ways to return your items: two book drops or mail. Please note that we quarantine returned items for 3-5 business days before checking them in. Items will still appear on your account until they have been checked in. Once the quarantine period is over, all items will be checked in and backdated to the date you returned them.

Book Drops

  1. Inside the Murray Building, just before the entrance to the Murray Library, there is a book drop. This book drop is available between 9 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. 

  2. Murray Library loading dock. This book drop is open 24hrs every day of the week. Please use the GoogleMap pin below to help find your way there.

Mail

If you are unable to drop off items directly at the library, please send them through the mail. It may take 3-5 business days for them to be checked in. Our mailing address is:
