Medical Emergencies

Emergency medical situations include:

  • Accidents
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Seizures
  • Anything life threatening

Tutors encountering an individual in a medical emergency are to call 911 (from mobile phone) or 9-911 (from campus telephone) immediately and report the crisis. If the medical situation appears to be minor, such as fainting, Protective Services should be called at 306-966-5555. They will determine whether or not to call 911 for assistance. Protective Services is notified immediately of all 911 calls from the University campus and will assist on all medical emergencies and otherwise when requested.

Whether you call Protective Services or Saskatoon Police, provide them with information regarding the emergency. including:

  • the nature of the emergency.
  • the exact location of the emergency, including the building, room number, and closest entrance.
  • your name and a phone number at which you can be reached.

Follow the instructions given to you. Do not hang up the phone unless instructed to do so
