Useful terminology

AGGREGATE DATA (STATISTICS): summary-level data; the result of applying statistical analyses to microdata. Often presented as tables of totals, averages, percentages, etc.

MICRODATA: responses or observations at the unit of analysis (individual, household, business, etc.), before statistical analysis has been applied

SPATIAL DATA: data that include geographic positioning information relative to a coordinate system
