Welcome to the University of Saskatchewan's tutorial on remote learning.

Whether you are a seasoned remote/online learner or an absolute beginner, this tutorial will help you better understand the skills associated with remote learning success and will help you make the most of the remote learning situation you find yourself in.

One of the student pursuits in the university's learning charter is a willingness to actively engage in the learning process1. This means being willing to

  • learn independently, experientially, and collaboratively with others,
  • engage actively in the learning process through self-evaluation and reflection, and
  • take personal responsibility for your learning.

The goal of this tutorial, therefore, is to help you become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses as a remote/online learner and to help you develop your ability to be more self-reflective and self-directed in your learning.

At the end of the tutorial is a questionnaire/survey that will help you determine how ready you are to learn remotely.

Time: This tutorial should take less than an hour to complete.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the Saskatoon campus of the University of Saskatchewan is on Treaty Six Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. We pay our respect to the First Nation and Métis ancestors of this place and reaffirm our relationship with one another. We recognize that some may be completing this tutorial from other traditional Indigenous lands and ask that you take a moment to make your own Land Acknowledgement to the peoples of those lands. In doing so, we are actively participating in reconciliation as we navigate our time, learning and supporting each other.
