GIS: Geographic Information Systems: Home

What is GIS?

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are computer based frameworks used to store, organize, manipulate, analyze, and visualize geospatial data. GIS methods and technology are used in a wide variety of scholarly research, and are the foundations of popular applications like Google Maps.

The University Library works in partnership with Research Computing and the SSRL's Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) to provide GIS services, software, training, and data to the USask community.
