Union catalogues

Union catalogues listed below include the catalogues of many libraries around Canada and the world. They are useful to researchers who want to find what has been published on a topic. Union catalogues include books, maps, films, musical scores, etc. These items can then be requested through interlibrary loan.

OCLC FirstSearch (Worldcat)
WorldCat is the world's largest network of library content and services. WorldCat libraries are dedicated to providing access to their resources on the Web, where most people start their search for information. Open Access Content is new feature of the database, allowing for enhanced visibility and discoverability of open content.
Access is restricted to current students, faculty, and staff of the University of Saskatchewan, and walk-in users, for educational, research, and non-commercial personal use. Systematic copying or downloading of electronic resource content is not permitted by Canadian and international copyright law.
Center for Research Libraries (CRL)
Access primary resources through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from CRL's collection for research and teaching in the humanities, sciences and social sciences. The Center makes available more than four million publications, archives and collections to its member libraries to supplement their own humanities, social science and science holdings. "CRL acquires and preserves newspapers, journals, documents, archives, and other traditional and digital resources from a global network of sources. Most materials acquired are from outside the United States, and many are from five emerging regions of the world: Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Latin America." Access Note: CRL resources may be borrowed through ILL by University of Saskatchewan students, faculty and staff. The loan period is unlimited, but is subject to possible recall notice. Use Aurora to search Library and Archives Canada's catalogue of its published holdings, including books, newspapers, magazines, maps, music and works in accessible formats.
Use Voila for the holdings of hundreds of participating Canadian institutions.
Library Hub Discover
Library Hub Discover currently contains 46,204,996 records created from 123,699,109 records contributed by 171 institutions, giving you access to details of materials held in many UK national, academic and specialist libraries.
The European Library Collection
Transferred to Europeana website. Designed to meet the needs of the research community worldwide, this online portal offers access to the collections of the 48 National Libraries of Europe and leading European Research Libraries.

Global Books in Print (BIP) with Reviews
An authoritative and comprehensive reference resource offering complete bibliographic information on titles in print available from markets worldwide including U.S. book, audio book, and video titles, as well as international titles. It also offers reviews, tables of content,full-text previews, cover images, author biographies, awards information, annotations, and much more. Also includes the readers' advisory resource, Fiction Connection.

Library of Congress Online Catalogue
Portal to the Library of Congress (LC) online catalogue, including basic and guided search, as well as other LC catalogues including: Prints and Photographs Online Catalog (PPOC), Sound Online Inventory & Catalog (SONIC). E-Resources Online Catalog, Handbook of Latin American Studies (HLAS Web), and other Library catalogs worldwide.

OAIster
A union catalog of more than 23 million open access digital resources from over 1,100 organizations, developed by the University of Michigan and harvested using OAI-PMH (the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting).
This is an Open Access resource freely available on the Internet.
