The Parliamentary Information and Research Service (PIRS) provides a consulting service for individual parliamentarians responding to questions that require research and analysis on legal, economic, scientific, or social science matters. Researchers obtain and analyze material, write letters, short notes and longer research papers at the request of Senators and Members of the House of Commons. In some cases, responses are provided to clients by telephone briefings or by meetings with individuals.
Use for finding information on legislation currently before Parliament. This tool provides electronic access to a wide range of information about individual bills, such as: the text of the bill at various stages; government press releases and backgrounders (for government bills); legislative summaries; important speeches at second reading; votes; links to committee proceedings and coming into force data. Covers the 35th Parliament, 1st Session (1994) to the present.

There are approximately 7000 items in the index that includes commission reports, briefs, submissions, evidence, working papers and other documents.
