Welcome to USask's New Academic Integrity Tutorial

"As we gather here today, we acknowledge we are on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. We pay our respect to the First Nations and Métis ancestors of this place and reaffirm our relationship with one another."

- University Council

Academic Integrity is an integral part of academic life at USask, and this tutorial explores the guiding principles that govern your role as a student at the university. It serves as an introduction to the core values of academic integrity and is designed to help you understand the university's regulations on academic misconduct, as well as the procedures followed when misconduct is suspected.

While each college and discipline contributes to the academic community differently, they all follow the same set of academic integrity standards. The purpose of this tutorial is to:

  1. Help you learn and understand the expectations for students regarding all academic work
  2. Help you understand your rights as a student and how the Student Misconduct Regulations are applied
  3. Help you develop the skills necessary to uphold academic integrity as a member of the USask community

At the end of this tutorial, you should have a better understanding of the following concepts:

  • Academic integrity and its importance in the academic community
  • The university's regulations and procedures in place to deal with academic misconduct
  • The skill set required to maintain academic integrity and prevent academic misconduct

There are three modules, each concluding with a multiple-choice quiz. These quizzes, along with the activities within each module, will prepare for the final assessment. Successful completion of the final assessment quiz at the end of the tutorial will generate a certificate of completion, which your instructor may require.

It should take you approximately 3 hours to complete the tutorial.

Transparency Statement: Portions of this tutorial were developed with the assistance of GenAI. Specifically, Pi.ai, ChatGPT and Perplexity were used to generate quiz and draft content, brainstorm ideas, proof instructions and assist in organizing and formatting tables, and other structured elements. All AI-generated content was thoroughly reviewed, edited, and verified by human educators to ensure accuracy, relevance, and coherence and, where necessary, supplemented with additional research and expertise. The content provided is for educational purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for advice, guidance or requirements from instructors or the institution.
