Veterinary public health was defined at a 1999 conference convened by the World Health Organization of the United Nations as "The contributions to the physical, mental and social well being of humans through an understanding and application of veterinary science".
One Health is an initiative to " better understand and address the contemporary health issues created by the convergence of human, animal, and environmental domains ..." (American Veterinary Medical Association, Exe. Summary).
