Research Guide for Library Faculty: Roles and Responsibilities

Researcher

  • review grant/program guidelines
  • work with the Research Facilitator (RF) to ensure a quality application
  • inform either the Dean's Executive Assistant (EA) directly or through the RF of his/her intention to apply and when he/she will need the Dean's approval
  • submit the final version of the application through UnivRS for electronic approval (3 working days before the RSEO deadline) and compliance review
  • submit application to agency before program deadline
  • send an electronic copy of the final version to the RF to have a copy on record

Research Facilitator

  • notify faculty of upcoming grant opportunities and deadlines
  • assist researchers with the development of their programs of research and applications (grant, ethics, & sabbatical)
  • work with grant applicants to develop the best possible applications
  • read and review all grant applications
  • inform the Dean's EA which faculty will seek the Dean's signature and when

Research Support Specialists

  • assist with budget development
  • liaise with funding agencies on behalf of the applicant
  • confirm eligibility of applicants and budget items
  • interpret agency funding guidelines and policies
  • conduct compliance review in accordance with UofS and funding agency policies and guidelines
  • provide institutional approval required by funding agencies either through forwarding applications or providing a "wet signature" on a paper copy
  • notify Principal Investigators of awarded funding

Dean

  • read and review faculty applications (must be received 3 working days before RSEO deadlines)
  • provide College approval (via her electronic signature) in UnivRS for the RSEO internal processes
