Getting Started in Grad School: 4.1 Personal Reflection

Reflection

This module is about building or personalizing your research toolkit. Consider what you already know or do. Making meaningful connections between your existing knowledge and the new information presented can help you adopt new ways of thinking and doing and help you reach a new level of research mastery.

Before you begin, reflect on your past research experiences:

  • Do you remember any challenges you experienced when completing your research assignments/projects in your undergraduate program?
  • How did you overcome these research challenges or roadblocks?
  • Did you seek out assistance or support?
  • How do you think the research expectations will be different from your undergraduate to your graduate program?
  • If you are returning to university after being away for an extended period of time, reflect upon how libraries and information ecosystems have changed or evolved.
